Throughout the long history of Flarb, we’ve been involved in all sorts of projects ranging from simple feature phone games to in-depth monetization analysis of MMOs. A lot of our client work is under NDA, while many of our current projects still live on in the App Store.
Our current project is Ether Drift, a hybrid of toys and apps using augmented reality technology to merge the physical and virtual worlds together. We’ve created an efficient production process to create digital assets out of physical sculpts. Combined with augmented reality, this is a unique way to build a new IP or extend existing brands.
A brief list of notable projects:
Ether Wars A new vision in Real Time Strategy from FLARB. Designed exclusively for HoloLens, Ether Wars brings Mixed Reality space battles to your living room. Summon space fighters, warp in hover tanks, or materialize orbiting star bases from portals that tear open on your walls, floors, and ceilings. Fend off attacks sent by players from other dimensions or face off in a real time multiplayer battle using two HoloLens devices in the same room!
Caldera Defense Tower defense in VR–Tower defense where YOU are the tower! A VR tactical shooter for Samsung and Oculus’ Gear VR platform. This game was built with Unity3D with a team of VR veterans. Currently available as a free early access version in the Gear VR store. We are working on many more VR experiences, including projects for console, desktop, and mobile platforms.
InnAR Wars A unique augmented reality local multiplayer space RTS game built for Google’s Tango tablet. Created as a prototype for the Make a Tango App contest, this game uses Tango’s unique area learning and depth camera capabilities to create a multiplayer space battle in the real world around you.
Camera Birds. An augmented reality bird watching game that uses Qualcomm Vuforia technology to display virtual birds in the real world.
Brick Buddies. A hilarious send-up of virtual pets, this is a Unity 3D game featuring the world’s most accurate pet brick simulation.
Rock Band ICONS. Built for MTV/Harmonix, this was a Facebook casual puzzle game that tied into Rock Band 3. The game featured fast-paced action puzzle gameplay as well as power-ups, leaderboards, and music from the Rock Band Network.
Brave Balls! The first social real-time action MMO on Facebook. A cartoon dungeon hack with randomly generated dungeons, co-op multiplayer, messaging, crafting, and guilds. Built in 2009, this game was successfully licensed to another developer as middleware and briefly launched on its own as an operating game.
